Solar Collector Mirror(SCM) - Glassless

Description

The Solar Collector Mirror (SCM) is a lightweight, composite metallic mirror with high total solar reflectance, invented, developed, and patented by Clean Energy Systems in the U.S. and internationally. Developed through advanced metal composite technology, the SCM features a unique, patented coating that offers significant advantages over traditional glass mirrors, which are heavy, fragile, and costly. SCM benefits include a highly durable exterior-grade core, exceptional flatness, low maintenance, and a self-cleaning hydrophilic surface.

Its lightweight, unbreakable design allows for easier handling, packaging, and shipping, while maintaining structural integrity and performance. Optimized for full-spectrum solar concentration (UV, visible, NIR, and IR from 380 µm to 2400 µm), SCM is ideal for CSP, CPV, and BMPV (Smart Mirror™ PV) systems. Clean Energy Systems also holds patents for other clean energy innovations, including the Receiver Tube "Helios," Smart PV System™, Solar Hydroelectric Power System, and PBB Green Power System.

Product Details

The Solar Collector Mirror (SCM) is a breakthrough lightweight composite metallic mirror designed for CSP, CPV, and Smart Mirror™ PV applications. Unlike conventional glass mirrors, SCM features superior solar reflectivity (90–95%), remarkable durability, and self-cleaning hydrophilic surfaces, making it low maintenance and unbreakable. Weighing just 3 kg/m² compared to traditional 10 kg/m² glass mirrors, SCM allows for simplified substructures, easier handling, and significant cost savings—lowering system costs from $4–5 million per MW to just $3–3.5 million per MW. Its innovative design eliminates the need for hydraulics, swivel joints, and heavy motors, using a small 0.33 HP motor to move a 9-trough array via the Archimedes principle. Capable of reaching temperatures above 400°C and pressures over 60 bar, the system is both efficient and powerful. Additionally, the modular design reduces installation time to 12 months—faster than the 16–18 months required by conventional setups. With a suite of patented clean energy technologies, this system offers a smarter, more economical, and scalable solution for the future of solar power.
